Preclinical Proof of Concept for Novel Recording and Modulation Technologies in the Human CNS, an R18 grant through the BRAIN Initiative from the NINDS that supports Dr. Sun's research to develop a novel implantable device for patients with drug-resistant epilepsy to predict seizures with greater accuracy and deliver targeted neurostimulation to prevent them before they occur. Human cortical interneurons optimized for grafting specifically integrate, abort seizures, and display prolonged efficacy without over-inhibition
The Qasim lab uses direct-brain recordings in neurosurgical patients to link the activity of cells and circuits in the human brain to the computations that enable us to think, plan, choose, feel, and remember.
